Manimal Art Dept.: Zephyr

Here is the character, Zephyr, from the DC comic, Noble Causes (Issue #28), drawn by Yildiray Cinar and colored by Ron Riley. He's one tough cat!

  1. Doesn't zephyr mean "gentle breeze" or some such? Crazy name for such wild beast.

  2. Yes, Zephyrus or Zephyr is the name of the West wind and that wind is the gentlest of all the four winds.

But it is futile trying to assign logic, rhyme and reason to comic book characters. It is like trying to make sense of American politics.

Who knows, maybe before he transforms Zephyr is real pussycat.

  3. Ah... the West wind, thanks. Spent some time researching the gay anthem Go West by Pet Shop Boys. Plenty of amazing imagery there. Recent youtube address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G75tH2wfvQ
